Introduction to Tapestry Weaving
September 21, 22 and 23, 2012
The Cottonwood Inn Bed and Breakfast is excited to have Julie Cloutman join us to teach a two-day introduction to Tapestry Weaving. Julie has a degree in weaving from the University of North Texas and has been practicing the art for over thirty years. In addition to teaching weaving, Julie owns the local shop - Taos Fiber Arts.
The class includes an introduction on the first evening, followed by two five-hour days of hands on weaving lessons. Julie will make available a loom for each of up to four participants in addition to all the yarn you need for your project. The looms will be available for the students to use from Friday evening through Sunday evening.
Shantal and Brantly, your hosts at the Cottonwood Inn, will provide lodging, breakfast, lunch and snacks during the workshop. The workshop will be held in the Cottonwood Inn studio barn. There will be a meet-and-greet introduction reception from 4-6 pm on Friday evening in the Cottonwood common area. The workshop is limited to 4 participants.
Workshop & lunch package only: $325 per person, includes the class, yarn and use of a personal loom.
Lodging & breakfast: prices vary with choice of accommodation. Guests booking the workshop and lunch package will receive a 10% discount on room rates for first 3 nights lodging and 30% discount on any additional nights. There is a three-room night minimum for class members who would like to stay at the Cottonwood Inn B and B. Murder Mystery Dinner

Plan to dress up and make Halloween happen the way that it should. Join us for a small, intimate, participatory dinner murder mystery. Plan to arrive by 4:00 so that you can prepare for your part in the intrique. Guests are encouraged to dress for the part.
Priced at only $75 per person plus tax for the mystery and a delicious dinner. Participants will receive a 10% discount on their lodging. There is a two-night minimum for lodging.
Hand Building Clay Workshop with Peggy Papay

Following up the resoundingly successful first clay workshop that Peggy taught, the Cottonwood is excited to offer another clay workshop. This class will be about making items in clay with an animal motif. There is no more inspirational place to feed your spirit and develop your love of art than the spectacular backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and the majesty of the high desert of Northern New Mexico.
The Cottonwood Inn invites you to join Peggy Papay, noted teacher and ceramicist from Tucson, Arizona for an intensive two-day journey with clay. This workshop will illuminate the powerful role that working with clay can play in enhancing our wellbeing. Through hands-on participation you will learn how working in clay can be spiritually uplifting-- and fun!
No prior experience with clay? No problem! Peggy will provide you with not only all of the necessary equipment and materials needed to create your own art.
You will learn a brief history of the use of clay objects from the Neolithic through the great civilizations of Egypt and the Fertile Crescent. You will be introduced into the nature of terra cotta clay and it’s properties, all the while getting your hands into this amazing medium. The final result of work will be the a piece of three dimensional art in the shape of your favorite animal or animals.
