Directions and Map
The Cottonwood Inn is only 10 minutes from the Taos Plaza and Taos Pueblo yet it enjoys a pastoral setting with sweeping mountain and meadow vistas. Joggers and walkers will especially enjoy the 360 degree views from a 2 mile long dirt track just outside our front gate. If your pet is accompanying you on your journey you will find dozens of great walks and hikes you can share.
Art and history lovers have only a short drive to the many great museums and galleries of the area. The location of the Cottonwood Inn is ideal for all types of outdoor recreation as well as visiting the many excellent museums and galleries both in and surrounding Taos. Skiers, hikers, rock climbers, bicyclists, white water enthusiasts and anglers will find easy access to the many outdoor activities for which Taos is noted.
Although the Cottonwood Inn is convenient to town, we are just far enough away from the bright lights that star gazers will revel in the heavenly scene which can be taken in from our outdoor hot tub or from your own private deck.
Of course there is shopping too. From fine art to funky kitsch, Taos has it all. Cruise the Taos Plaza for fun gifts to bring back to friends and family, or explore the tiny galleries and shops you'll find in the enchanting town of Arroyo Seco-only 2 miles from the Cottonwood Inn - for that one of a kind treasure. And don't forget the world-famous Taos Pueblo, where you will find hand-made items by the Pueblo's own artists, as well as offerings from a variety of Native American artists from all over New Mexico and the United States.
And don't forget the great food that Taos has to offer! For dining, several of Taos' finest restaurants are within a two minute drive of the Cottonwood Inn, with many other of Taos' other great dining establishments only a few minutes further. (When you make your room reservation, be sure to request that Shantal and Brantly e-mail you their "Innsiders' Gourmet Guide to Taos").
The Cottonwood Inn is conveniently located for the photographer, artist or sightseer who will find great interest in the old adobe churches and Penitente moradas of the nearby historic villages of Arroyo Seco, Valdez and Arroyo Hondo. A short auto or bicycle tour from the Inn through the villages mentioned above will also provide you with an insight into the Spanish colonization of the Southwest and a glimpse of what the town of Taos used to be.
It is truly not an overstatement to say that the area around the Cottonwood Inn offers something to interest, inspire, or engage just about anyone!
